🌧️💰 Do you have a little nest egg tucked away for a rainy day?New figures from the Financial Conduct Authority released today show that 1 in 10 of us don’t have any cash savings at all — and about 1 in 5 have less than £1,000 to fall back on in an emergency.The FCA’s new Financial Lives survey also shows nearly a quarter of adults in the UK (24%) have low financial resilience - meaning that they have missed payments, are struggling to keep up with commitments, or don’t have savings to help them through an emergency.At Stop Loan Sharks, we know that low financial resilience like this is a key factor in leaving people vulnerable to loan sharks. In fact, 91% of the people we supported in 2024 had no savings to help them cope. A 46-year-old man was arrested in Coventry today on suspicion of illegal money lending. The England Illegal Money Lending Team worked with @WMPolice and @coventrycc Trading Standards on this op.
