Sid the Shark is continuing his travels this week as he gets out and about helping us spread the word about the dangers of illegal money lending.📍 In Bedford, he joined a community fraud and scams day alongside Barclays UK, Bedfordshire Police and What’s On Bedford.📍 In Ripley, Derbyshire, Sid attended a Learning Disabilities event run by the local Primary Care Network at Ripley Leisure Centre.📍 And at Chesterfield College’s Be Better event, Sid even managed to make a new prehistoric friend! 🦖🦈Would you like Sid to visit your community event? Sid the Shark has been clocking up the miles over the past few days, spreading the Stop Loan Sharks message and getting stuck into some fantastic community events.First stop was Brighton & Hove City Council, where we were running guest workshops the the town hall as part of a community event for council tenants and leaseholders. Mayor Theresa Fowler was delighted to meet Sid in person!Sid then headed to Manchester for the Living Well with Dementia event at Limelight Health and Well-being Hub where he was put through his paces!And most recently, Sid got stuck into a community clean-up in Ormesby, near Middlesbrough, working alongside Beyond Housing, Redcar & Cleveland Borough Council and Cleveland Fire Brigade UK. The clean-up will also help efforts to reduce anti-social behaviour and arson in the run-up to Bonfire Night. A 35-year-old man was arrested in Salford early today on suspicion of illegal money lending and money laundering following an operation by the England Illegal Money Lending Team - Stop Loan Sharks England.We worked in partnership with Greater Manchester Police officers to execute a warrant at an address in the Walkden area.The IMLT also worked in partnership with Salford Trading Standards Service on the investigation.The suspect was taken into custody to be interviewed by IMLT officers.If you think you’ve borrowed from a loan shark or have information about illegal lending activities in your area, get in touch with us for confidential advice and support.You can call our free, 24/7 helpline on 0300 555 2222 or send a WhatsApp message to 07700 102773You have done nothing wrong and we are here to help, not to judge.#stoploansharksengland
